November 2011

Every year the Syndicate takes a six week vaca from ourselves to participate with other local leagues and their practices and events. Novembers events included attending open skate sessions, practice with local leagues, meeting a new league, and last but not least, Thankscrimmage hosted by Prison City Derby Dames (PCDD) from Chino Hills. This years event was held in West Covina at the Orangewood Skate Park. Skaters from near and far come to participate in this event to have fun with other skaters both known and unknown. The fun begins at 10am when sign in starts and girls start setting up and gearing up to get their derby on. The day consist of multiple games set on two tracks offered by the facility. Games run simultaneously with the whole shabang of a regular game with refs, NSO's, and announcers. Thankscrimmage is an event that seems to get bigger each year since the original one was held at a little park I don't recall where exactly, but I do remember how much fun it was and enjoyed meeting the variety of girls that came out to participate. Now each year we as skaters look forward to Thankscrimmage, held the Saturday after Thanksgiving, to skate off our Thanksgiving meals, and have fun with both men and women whom share our passion for roller derby.

The next event we will be attending is December 31st, with the Orange County Roller Girls (OCRG) whom will be hosting Crash in to the New Year. This will be our first time attending the event and the second time they're holding this event. We look forward to seeing many skaters there, and skating in to the new year doing what we like most.

Till next time...
